Problem
Feedback is essential for learning. Feedback which is, in some way, divorced from the learning activity can become meaningless. If the length of time between activity and feedback is too great, then the impact on learning is lost.Context
Any learning situation where feedback is given.Solution
Feedback is integral to the learning activity and therefore feedback should be presented as close as possible to the learning activity learning activities and their assessment should be designed in such a way to ensure that feedback is given at the appropriate time, and be made available as close to the completion of assessment as possible.

Notes, Links and References
Liabilities, potential risks, extensions, expected side-effects
Examples:1. Presentations, where reviewers capture notes and feedback during the session, and these are given to students immediately after the presentation session.
2. Practical exercises where instructors discuss progress with students directly.
3. Vivas, where examiners converse with examinees on their work.
4. Automated assessment, particularly multiple choice questions that have a low marking overhead. Results can be given to students in a more timely fashion.
