Problem
Messages sent or posted in haste, or in a state of high emotion, can cause professional embarrassment.Context
In professional or work based situations where for example you may be working within a project consortium and using both group messaging and personal tools for communication. Often there are moments where serious issues arise that require cold calculated attention. This can be difficult as these issues also raise the blood pressure.Solution
Before pressing the send/post button, insert a purposeful delay. It can vary according to the risk one associates with the message and when the message is being sent. If it is late at night, leave it until the morning. During the day then leave it as a draft for at least an hour. If you are in a rush and must send - then count to 10 and re-read.

In his David Allen's famous productivity manual 'Getting Things Done' he describes a position in martial arts called 'Mind Like Water' which he uses as a metaphor for how we should to learn to respond to work based pressures and disturbances. We need to learn to respond neither too much nor too little. If we over respond we create additional disturbance if we under respond we leave ourselves with an 'open loop' and a potential source of anxiety that will effect our other work-based efforts. We need to keep our responses proportional to our inputs. Sometimes you may feel a need to reply quickly to rectify a serious mis-apprehension of the facts, or add clarity to a situation before something becomes amplified by others. If this is the case then stick to the facts and remove emotional content.======= Related ========1) Standstill 2) One mail One message
