Problem

Arrive at a higher level of conception

Context

Learner has familiarity with particular instantiation of a concept (bullying, object modelling), but very contextualised and specific.

Solution

Enable learners to share and debate their experiences and perspectives on the instantiation of the concept and through this arrive at a less contextualised, more generic understanding of the concept.

Bring questions or issues back to the teacher - to enable validation of concept, or expose misconception.

Really need to know more about what the learners did among themselves - what does the teacher do to structure that learner interaction to ensure they are able to develop the abstracted concept from their specific experiences.
