Problem
Arrive at a higher level of conceptionContext
Learner has familiarity with particular instantiation of a concept (bullying, object modelling), but very contextualised and specific.Solution
Enable learners to share and debate their experiences and perspectives on the instantiation of the concept and through this arrive at a less contextualised, more generic understanding of the concept. Bring questions or issues back to the teacher - to enable validation of concept, or expose misconception. Really need to know more about what the learners did among themselves - what does the teacher do to structure that learner interaction to ensure they are able to develop the abstracted concept from their specific experiences.
