What was the setting in which this case study occurred?

Last semester (january-may) We use Internet access with cell phone to deliver content, stablish academic challenges and task for graduate level students

Task

What was the problem to be solved, or the intended effect?

How to use java apps from Google and other providers to creat an academic network sharing content, tasks and collaboration

Actions

What was done to fulfil the task?


We created a Virtual Community, we gave an email address to all community members and all of them downloaded an applet which gave Them access to text, PPT and data base files. Sometimes we used the You tube application to look for videos about rural Mexico education

Results

What happened? Was is a success? What contributed to the outcomes?

We achieved that students worked practically to solve tasks, share info, and work collaboratively using their cell phones. Cell phones are cheaper than any Laptop and their power to linking people who work together ubiquitously is amazing

Lessons Learned

What did you learn from the experience?

1) Using Cell phone in learning tasks is very promising to extend cooperative learning

2) Using cell phones is the main stream in the students prefered gizmos, then they love work with it

3) Using Cell Phone app to see You tube is very expensive in Mexico yet

4) Reading in cell phone screen is tired, but if you increase the font size (when send word text or other) you can get more reliable experience
